Billing

Cancel, change your card, take your invoices.

All three live behind one button inside the Fetchi app, and that button opens Stripe. This page tells you where it is, what happens when you use it, and — because it is a fair question — why this website deliberately will not do it for you.

The short version

  • Pro and Max renew themselves every month, on the day you subscribed, at the price you signed up at, until you cancel. No fixed term, no cancellation fee. Your next date is in the app beside your plan.
  • Open Fetchi, go to Settings → Manage billing. It opens Stripe's own billing page for your account, in your browser.
  • Cancelling, swapping the card and downloading past invoices are all there. Stripe hosts every one of them, so what you see is the real state of the subscription, not our summary of it.
  • Cancel there and Fetchi drops to Free as soon as Stripe confirms it. Free keeps 15 agent tasks a month. Dictation and the wake word run on your Mac and are never metered — but on Free a single monthly allowance covers conversation and agent work together, so talk does not keep running past the agent tasks the way it does on Pro and Max.
  • This website has no sign-in, so it cannot and will not open your billing page from an email address typed into a box. Knowing an address is not proof of owning it.
  • Locked out of the app entirely? Email riyaan.aldimassi+fetchi@gmail.com. We reply to the address on the account with a link — never to whoever wrote in.

Where the button is

  1. Open Fetchi and go to Settings. It's in the menu-bar icon, next to your plan.
  2. Find your plan. The line shows what you're on now — Free, Pro or Max — with Add credit and Manage billing beside it, and, unless you are already on Max, a button reading See plans. There is no button in Fetchi that hands you a plan without paying for it, which is why none of them is labelled Upgrade.
  3. Press Manage billing. Your browser opens on Stripe's billing page for your account. Everything you can do to the subscription is on it.

The button is there on every plan, including Free, on purpose: the person who most often wants an invoice is the person who has just cancelled. If the account genuinely has never been charged, it says exactly that rather than opening an empty page.

What's behind it

What you wantWhat happens
Cancel Stripe ends the subscription and tells us. Fetchi moves you to Free as soon as that confirmation arrives — and the app says so out loud when it does.
Change the card Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see a card number; there is nowhere in Fetchi that one could be typed.
Invoices and receipts Your full history, downloadable from Stripe. It keeps working after you've cancelled.
Top-up credit A one-off purchase, not a subscription — there is nothing recurring to cancel. Credit you have already bought stays on the account.

Cancelling stops the renewal. It doesn't stop the month you've paid for. Schedule a cancellation and your plan keeps working until the end of the billing period you've already been charged for — then it moves to Free on its own. You don't need to time it, and you don't lose the days you bought.

The renewal, stated plainly

A paid plan is a subscription. It charges the card again without asking, which is what a subscription is — but it is only fair if you were told, so here it is in one place.

QuestionAnswer
When does it renew? Monthly, on the same day of the month you first subscribed. The exact next date is shown in the app beside your plan, and on Stripe's billing page.
For how much? The price you signed up at — $20 a month on Pro, $100 a month on Max — to the card on file.
For how long? Until you cancel. No minimum term and no cancellation fee.
How do I stop it? Settings → Manage billing → cancel, on Stripe's page. One button, and no harder than signing up was.
Do I lose the rest of the month? No. The plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for, then drops to Free.
Does a top-up renew? No. Credit is a single charge with nothing recurring behind it.

Will you remind me before you charge me? Not by email, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise: the only email our service sends is a sign-in code you ask for, so an email reminder is not something the software currently does. Stripe does not send one by default either. What does exist: your renewal date is in the app and on Stripe's billing page, and if you have paired the phone companion, Fetchi pushes a notification to it before the renewal. If you want an emailed reminder, say so at riyaan.aldimassi+fetchi@gmail.com — when it ships, this paragraph changes.

Why this page won't take your email address

The obvious feature for a page like this is a box: type your email, get sent to your billing. We are not building it, and the reason is worth stating plainly.

This site has no accounts and no sign-in. A box like that would have nothing to check an address against, which means anyone who can guess or read an email address could reach the billing page behind it — the card on file, the invoice history, the ability to cancel. Fetchi has already had one bug of exactly that shape: an endpoint took an email and handed back the account's credential, which made typing someone's address a complete takeover of their account. It was removed. We are not going to rebuild it on the money page.

So the portal link is only ever created for a session that has already proved whose it is. The Fetchi app holds your account credential in the macOS Keychain, so the request it makes is signed as you; the link that comes back is minted by Stripe for that one account and nobody else's. Everything else — the address you type, the address someone else types — proves nothing, and is treated as proving nothing.

The same rule is why we can't email your account token back to you if you lose it. It's an inconvenience we accepted deliberately: losing a token is recoverable with a human in the loop, and handing an account to anyone who can spell an email address is not.

If you can't get into the app

New Mac, deleted app, or Fetchi won't start — you still need to be able to stop paying. Email riyaan.aldimassi+fetchi@gmail.com and say you want to cancel or need an invoice.

What happens then is deliberately dull: we reply to the email address on the account, not to whoever sent the message, with a link to that account's Stripe portal. If you are the account holder, the link lands in your inbox. If you aren't, it lands in theirs, and you learn nothing. That single rule is what makes a human support path safe where an open form isn't.

If the address on the account is one you no longer control, say so and we'll ask for something only the payer would have — the last four digits of the card and the date of a charge, both of which are on the statement in front of you. We'd rather ask an awkward question than hand a stranger your billing.

Fetchi is free to start, and a free account has no card, no subscription and no invoices. If you have never taken a paid plan, there is genuinely nothing on this page for you to do — and Manage billing in the app will tell you so in one click rather than opening an empty page and letting you wonder.
